Discussing Respect and Understanding - Power to Change the World
Contemporary universities are transforming into organizations where their members understand diversity and return what they learned to society beyond a mere academic learning space. We met the leaders of two bodies responsible for promoting diversity and social contributions within SNU to listen to what is required to “coexist with others.”
A Quantum Leap toward Everyone’s Exercises
Exercise is a critical factor in daily life affecting quality of life. However, the reality is that workout space for those with disabilities is insufficient. Professor Lee opened an “Inclugym”, a fitness facility for the physically challenged at one corner of the Gwanak Campus Gymnasium, accelerating to prepare the shortcut for encouraging everyone to participate in exercises.
A Case Study on Sweden’s Democracy with Olle Thorell
On May 10, Swedish parliamentarian Olle Thorell gave a lecture titled “Sweden: Lessons Learned” at SNU’s Woosuk Economic Hall. The lecture was arranged jointly by the Department of Political Science and International Relations and the Lee Tae-seok Leadership Academy to provide students an opportunity to learn about real-world politics.
Delving into the Issue of International Competition for Korean Digital Platforms with GSIS
On May 7, the IIA held its 28th Global Prominence Seminar on "Digital Platform Services in Korea," featuring Jong-il Kim from Yoon & Yang LLC, a seasoned expert in the industry, discussing international competition in portals, gaming, and shopping.
3D Printing with a 3D Printed Digital Material Filament for Programming Functional Gradients
Professors Gyu-Jin Cho and Ho-Won Lee's research team from the Department of Mechanical Engineering announced the development of a mixed filament capable of producing various colors and properties using a desktop 3D printer.
Metabuli: sensitive and specific metagenomic classification via joint analysis of amino acid and DNA
Professor Martin Steinegger's research team from the Department of Biological Sciences announced the development of Metabuli, an innovative metagenome analysis program that simultaneously analyzes DNA sequences of metagenomes and their translation into amino acid sequences.
